340B Prime Vendor Program: Your 340B Program Partner

The 340B Prime Vendor Program (PVP), is a contract awarded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), which is responsible for administering the 340B Drug Pricing Program. The Prime Vendor negotiates pricing discounts with participating manufacturers, provides education and resources such as 340B University, and offers technical assistance through Apexus Answers.

The PVP is a voluntary program for covered entities and manufacturers alike. There is no fee for eligible covered entities to enroll and participate in the program.

Apexus fulfills its role as HRSA’s Prime Vendor by supporting the 340B Program through various services available to 340B stakeholders. The Prime Vendor Program:

Achieves lower 340B pricing >

Since 2004, the PVP has brokered relationships with more than 150 manufacturers and approximately 13,100 340B parent entities to realize significant savings on 340B drug prices, helping those in need by:

  • Leveraging the purchasing power of program participants to negotiate discounts on brand-name and generic drugs, as well as supplies.
  • Providing manufacturer price protection.

Provides 340B education and assistance >

The 340B PVP collaborates with all types of 340B stakeholders to deliver free educational programs and compliance resources, which include:

  • Offering participants access to 340B University, which provides 340B education through live events, online learning, virtual workshops and webinars.
  • Offering Apexus Answers, a national call center that responds to frequently asked questions and answers about the 340B Program from the most basic to the most complex. Apexus Answers, celebrating ten years of service and support, is available by phone, live chat, and email.
  • Providing online compliance tools and templates.
  • Providing technical assistance to all stakeholders, including covered entities, manufacturers, and distributors.

Promotes collaboration >

The 340B PVP Manufacturer Refund Service promotes effective and efficient collaboration between manufacturers, distributors, and covered entities to resolve manufacturer overcharges. Since inception, this service has returned more than $212 million in refunds to covered entities.

Ensures distribution access >

Distribution options drive value in the marketplace by offering choices. Through the PVP as the central source overseeing distribution, Apexus supports 340B compliance by ensuring distribution pricing integrity. This includes establishing a large distribution network of national/regional wholesalers and specialty distributors, including medical/surgical and vaccine suppliers.

The Advanced 340B Operations Certificate Program, designating 340B Apexus Certified Experts (340B ACEs), and the Covered Entity Refund Service are separate Apexus offerings that are not part of the 340B Prime Vendor Program or otherwise associated with the Prime Vendor Agreement between HRSA and Apexus.
